My thought process,” Justice Souter said, “is I would rather have the kid embarrassed by a strip search, if we can’t find anything short of that, than to have some other kids dead because the stuff is distributed at lunchtime and things go awry.

This is ridiculous! Isn’t a strip search a violation of some basic human right to privacy? Aren’t kids going to get drugs if they really want them? How do we keep them from wanting them? Improve basic education in this country. Stop the war on drugs and put the money into drug prevention and care centers. Obviously drugs should not be allowed in school but in my opinion the attention should focus more on specific behaviors like dealing or doing drugs at school, and not resort to measures like strip searching. If a student needs a strip search perhaps they should be removed from school and taken to a drug care facility where the strip search can be done professionally. The supreme court really dissapointed today and come off sounding like a bunch of idiots.
