You can see here the whole press conference he gives to the National Press Club. Not only does he not say anything offensive, he only gets jovial at the end during the inane questions.
I have to agree with Jon Stewart on this one - I like this guy.
I feel less connected than ever with mainstream American public because I am hard pressed to find positive coverage of this except for by the Daily Show. Even the NYTimes called this showboating and rambling. I found it neither but very directed, reserved when appropriate, and right on. His message was very consistent, that the black church is concerned with theology of liberation and prophecy and reconciliation, and I learned a lot about how the black church views itself. What is it about what he says that offends so many people? I have never believed so much that racism is alive and well. Even black commentators for the NYTimes denounced him, how?!
