So another good comment in response to Linus T’s assertion that C is crap:

“He is correct. Most languages out there are for the “professional programmer” masses to regurgitate for the rest of the consumer masses. That’s why most programs take a long time to get the bugs out and thats what takes away alot of time from evolving the programmers and their programs to a highly functional state. All you people that spent years coding in C and C# to get to a decent level of productivity listened to the corporations that dumbed you down without you ever realizing it. It’s called creating “barriers to entry”. Thats why all of you can code windowed gui apps but can’t program serious things like operating system kernels, evolutionary algorithms or cognitive or graphical engines which will continue to dominate as time goes on. Listen to the experts like linus, they may sound like assholes when they speak their minds, but who you are you going to listen to ? The mass majority, or the ones who kick ass and take names in their fields ?”
